High Five For Friday

How is it possible that it's going to be March on Sunday and it is still this frigid cold out?!  It is seriously not ok.  My only hope is that March will soon bring warmer temperatures because every one's spirit in the Midwest is in dire need of some warming up!

Here are a few moments from my week.
1.  Charlie's been seeming to feel a lot better lately, which is awesome because since his emergency vet stay this summer he has been up and down.  He is still on meds daily, but he seems to be getting back his energy and appetite, so I only hope that he keeps improving.

2.  Before our event this last weekend I picked up some chocolate favors from one of my favorite local shops, Anna Shea Chocolates.  They have the cutest, ornate, and delicious truffles and while I was there I got a chocolate based chai and it was probably one of the most delicious things I've had.

3.  At my acupuncture appointment on Monday I was so exhausted from the weekends activities that I passed out cold, I didn't even realize I was done until all of a sudden I realized there was someone in the room with me removing the needles!

4.  My friend posted this on Facebook and I have felt like this more days then I can count this week.

5.  My current obsession, seriously, this stuff is so good.  I could eat these California rolls with spicy mayo everyday.  I take the lid off and just the smell alone. . . it's making me hungry just thinking about it!

I am so looking forward to some time to catch up with life this weekend.  You know the fun stuff, sort through the mail, get the laundry done, pick up the house and hopefully a little rest too.  What's on your plate this weekend?

Bumpdate | Week 15

Week|  15

Total Weight Gain| Ok I think I'm about plus 6 ish pounds, I really do need to step on the scale a little more often because I realized when I don't for awhile it's more shocking to the system to see those numbers jump up!

Gender| ???  Starting to get super anxious, hope to find out soon!

Symptoms| I've been feeling a ton of growing and stretching pains across my stomach this week so I'm hoping that means I'll be starting to show a little bit more soon.  Also the bathroom trips have intensely increased intermittently throughout the day, I read it's supposed to let up in the second trimester, but so far that hasn't proven to be the case for me.

Cravings|  Sushi!  Or at least my kind of sushi, California and veggie rolls with spicy mayo on top, yes very specific I know.  There is this place by my work that I refer to as the fast food Japanese place (I refer it to that mostly just because you order at a counter, but they still make everything fresh as you order it) that is the best, I think they are starting to see me walk in and know my order, I just can't get enough of it!  Plus I'm still on the cheese from before, but my sushi with my spicy mayo, that's where it's at!

Sleep|  I've been sleeping pretty great this week, and although my bathroom trips during the day don't seem to be lightening up, I seem to be getting up less often during the night which I'll take.

Clothes|  I still haven't done much about this, I feel like I so badly want to get a new spring wardrobe, and well it's not spring yet, it's so not even close to spring yet.  But I so badly don't want to buy winter maternity clothes that I'm hoping I won't really be able to get that much use out of because it's going to be spring soon, right?  Please?!

Workouts| I totally slacked this last week.  I got in one workout at home, and all the rest of the days I used the fact that I had a full day dance event on Sunday as my excuse to procrastinate.  That being said, I did dance all day on Sunday and that has to count for at least two workouts, right?

Nursery|  I'm anxious to get a jump on this, but am waiting until we find out the gender to really jump into planning.

Movement|  Nothing yet, but I'm starting to feel things that I wonder is that really just a pull or a stretch or is that the baby, especially the ones that are more short lived.

Best Moment this Week|  I can say I have never been more relieved to put on my sweats then I was on Sunday night after dancing all day.  I was so tired, and everything felt sore, and my feet have not been in that much pain since who knows when that it felt so incredibly good to get home and put on my comfy clothes and just stand on the cold tile floor in my bare sore feet, it was such a relief!

How We Got Here

This weekend seriously kicked my butt, probably into next week!  If I ever thought I was tired, or my feet hurt after one of our all day dance events before, well it's a whole other ball game when you're pregnant!  I feel like I could sleep for 3 days, and well since that isn't a reality, hopefully I'll be able to catch up some over the week.

Speaking of being pregnant I wanted to share a little bit about how we finally got there.  A few times over the last year I've shared a few bits and pieces of our story and our journey.  Martin and I have been trying for a baby since we first got married nearly 2.5 years ago in September of 2012.  So it feels a little surreal this time around when people ask if we were trying, or it just happened.

Image Via

I always had a feeling that it would be hard for me to get pregnant, so I was surprised to find out I was pregnant in December of 2012.  Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage in March of 2013, which I shared here.  After that it took us a little while to get back on the bank wagon and actively start trying again.  I would say we officially started trying again in August of 2013 and by the Spring of 2014 when nothing had happened you could say I was beyond frustrated.

After being told multiple times by my own doctor that everything was fine and we'd see you once you were pregnant I decided to switch clinics.  I saw my new doctor and finally I felt like I was getting somewhere, it was then that I got diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.  In short typically in a woman's ovaries you produce 2 to 3 follicles each month and eventually one of them grows large enough to rupture and release an egg causing ovulation.  In polycystic ovaries I can produce anywhere from 15 to 20 follicles each month making it very difficult for one to grow large enough to rupture, no rupture means no ovulation.  Or it can take longer for one to grow large enough to rupture, meaning it's near impossible to track when you'd ovulate because you have no idea if you are or when you are going to.

I saw the fertility specialist at my new clinic and per there recommendation started infertility treatment.  Having that diagnosis of infertility is one of the most depressing things ever, they really do need to call it something else.  We went through 3 IUI's (inter uterine insemination) which consisted of 3 cycles of clomid to grow my follicles, a trigger shot I had to give myself to induce ovulation, and more hormones to take after the IUI to support a pregnancy if it were to work.  None of them worked and it was beyond frustrating to say the least.

We had decided to try the infertility treatment for 3 cycles and if it didn't work we'd take a break, August 2014 is when we found out that last cycle didn't work for us.  I was relived to be off all of those medications, and I always kinda felt that wasn't the route for us, I mean I knew I could get pregnant I had before.  After seeing how frustrated and let down I was Martin scheduled an appointment for us with an acupuncturist that specialized in fertility.

Image Via

The acupuncturist  made me feel like we could do this, that it would happen for us and it could happen naturally, which was a big relief since I was coming from the fertility specialist that was telling us most likely our only hope was IVF.  The acupuncture concentrated on helping to get my ovaries functioning in a healthy manner, a more regular cycle, with more healthy eggs, and to help reduce the overall stress I was experiencing with this whole process.

During this time I tried to focus on getting myself as healthy as possible.  I paid a ton of attention to what I was putting into my body and how I could help control my PCOS through diet and exercise, which I learned a ton about from discovering the PCOS Diva.

Then December 5th I finally got that positive pregnancy test, but I think I kinda already knew.  You really start to get to know your body through this whole process, and I knew something was different.  In fact I had a suspicion and took the test probably earlier then I should have and got the faintest line ever, so faint that I requested a blood test at my doctors office just to confirm that I was in fact pregnant.

I feel so excited to finally be in this place that we've hoped, dreamed and wished for so many times over the last 2.5 years.  I almost do an internal eye roll every time some one asks me do you want a boy or a girl, because frankly at the end of all this all I want is a healthy baby.

High Five For Friday

This week was one of those weeks where I just kinda felt like laying a little bit low, if you couldn't tell by my lack of posts this week!  It's been so darn cold that all I've wanted to do is curl up in my sweats under a pile of blankets and hibernate, no joke.  We're moving into the last week of February, there has to be some relief coming, right?!

Here are a few moments from this cold blistery week.

1.  Last Saturday when I was driving to work it was so crazy.  When I left my house it was sunny out, and about 5 minutes later I was in the middle of crazy snow, and then it was a white out.  I was sitting at this intersection and I could barely see the lights on the other side, it came out of no where, and then a half hour later the sun was out again.

2|  I was SO excited to hear that Starbucks was finally adding coconut milk to their menu, it was about time there was a non dairy option besides soy so I had to stop and give it a try.  I already know I love coconut milk and this was no exception. #gostarbucks

3.  Due to these frigid temperatures Martin has been off of work most of the week, since he works outside.  Though it's always frustrating when he's not able to work, it's been nice to have him around to help with the cooking and normal week things.  He's even packed my lunch for me a few days, I could get used to this!

4.  I thought I was feeling frigid the beginning part of this week, and then the worst struck.  Not only did my car thermometer pick up actual negative digits, my weather app tried to tell me that feeling like it was negative 23 is 'fair', really?!  Because last I checked negative 23 is really stupid cold!

5.  A special shout out to Karly, she is the sweetest for sending me a little mommy to be package via snail mail.  You are the best, and it totally made my day!

I have to say I'm a little sad I  won't be getting a day of rest until Monday, I have a busy working weekend ahead of me.  So if you have a nice relaxing weekend planned ahead of you, I am living vicariously through you!  Enjoy!

Bumpdate | Week 14

Week|  14

Total Weight Gain| I'm just going to say about the same, really I have no desire to step on a scale, though I know I need to to keep things in check.  I'm kind of scared to because I definitely feel bigger!

Gender| ???  We're not supposed to find out until our anatomy scan at 20 weeks, but I'm kinda hoping since I have an ultrasound at my 16 week appointment that maybe, just maybe we can find out then.

Symptoms|  At the beginning part of this week, it was almost like I didn't even feel pregnant, almost.  I'm feeling less tired, and less hungry all the time, though when I get really overly tired watch out, it's not pretty!  I'm getting anxious about when my belly is going to pop and stop just looking like I gained 10 lbs.

Cravings|  I'm still on the cheese, part of the reason why I wanted to badly to go to the Melting Pot last weekend, at least I'm getting my calcium, right?!

Sleep|  I've had 3 nights in a row of uninterrupted sleep, no bathroom breaks, it's been great.  I'll take it.

Clothes|  I most definitely need to invest in some more pants, I'm just procrastinating, or I'm just picky, however you want to look at it.  I need to find a good pair of comfy leggings too.  Unless I'm wearing sweatpants, or the pair of maternity pants I have, or have my pants unbuttoned I'm pretty uncomfortable.

Workouts|  I'm holding pretty steady at 3 sessions a week.  I keep saying I want to boost it up, and I really do, I'm just severely lacking in the motivation department.  I actually miss running, which I have this love hate relationship with.  I know you can still run while pregnant, but I decided not to because I have a really hard time keep my heart rate in a good range when I'm running.  Though I'm desperately looking forward to warmer weather where I can at least go for walks outside.

Nursery|  I've started doing some online browsing, but priority number 1 is still getting the room cleaned out, which honestly hasn't even been started on yet.  I told Martin we need to get on that ASAP!

Movement|  I think we're still a bit away from this one.

Best Moment this Week|  I can't say there was any one thing in specific that was the highlight of this last week, I am just super thankful that so far this pregnancy has been pretty easy and uneventful and I can only wish that the rest of it stays that way!

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

I 100% stole this post idea from Lisa, she does it from time to time, and I love it, a little update on what's currently going on in my life.

So so much water I feel like I'm going to float away.  Hydrate hydrate hydrate, yet I never feel like I'm actually drinking as much as I'm supposed to.

Layers, tons of layers.  Lately I'm cold all the time.  Like freezing cold.

My weekly bump updates from Baby Center and The Bump, but I have a feeling I need to get on reading more than just that!  I was trying to to over do it and fill my head with stuff that would freak me out during the first trimester, but I probably need to get on learning a little bit more now.  Any specific recommendations?

Too much TV!  What is with this season of the Bachelor, seriously?!  I haven't even had a chance to break into my recording of this season of Downton Abbey yet, but I am super excited that Nashville has been back on these last few weeks, LOVE that show!

A new wardrobe!  I'm starting to feel like a sausage stuffed into a too small casing in what feels like all my clothes (even though I know it isn't), but I'm kinda hating everything in my closet in the moment!!

All the sleep I'm getting.  I know that's something that's going to be long gone once the baby arrives.  I think I've gotten nearly 10 hours of sleep the last two nights.  It feels fantastic, though it makes getting anything else done nearly impossible.

One more day in the week to get everything done that I wish to get done in any given week!  I always manage to feel behind and I hate starting to week already feeling that way.  Someday I will manage to get ahead, just not sure when!

Every Saturday.  Besides the fact that if officially kicks of my weekend, which is pretty great, it's also my official marker of a new week of pregnancy and every time that rolls around there is a little sense of relief that I made it another week with no issues.

Too much!  Especially too much cheese!  They say you only need to consume about 300 more calories a day when you are expecting, I'm pretty sure I'm out doing that.  I'm trying to control myself, and it's getting better, I'm not seeming as hungry all the time these last few weeks, but it was getting dangerous there for awhile.

I've got some some DIY bath projects on my agenda, like some shower bombs and sugar scrubs that I plan to be sharing soon!

Everything I can to get more than 3 work outs in in a week, I know I need to be seeing the gym more often!

Everything, I learn something new everyday, especially with my job and the amount of people I interact with!

It was spring.  I am so so over these cold cold days, and its supposed to be even colder these next few.  I am ready for sunshine and flowers and warmth!

A getaway.  I would love a getaway sometime in the near future, when and where is TBD.

This cold, I know I already said it, but that's how much I've over it!

What are you currently up to?

High Five for Friday

I'm just chalking it up to this time of year, but every Friday seems like it deserves an extra high five for the sheer fact that the weekend is almost here!  And this weekend brings with it a little something special, it's Valentine's weekend, so spread the love!

Here are a few things happening in my life currently.

1.  On Sunday Martin and I tried a new restaurant, Wise Guys.  I found them on my Find Me Gluten Free App for there 5 star rating of pizza.  It was just a little place, that looked like it probably did more carry out then dine in, and they had some of the best gluten free options I've had.  We had there pizza and garlic bread, the pizza was good, but I was super impressed by their garlic bread.  It actually tasted like real garlic bread, and if you've ever had most gluten free breads you know that most of them leave a lot to be desired.  They also offer gluten free sandwiches, pastas, and cookies.  I look forward to going back.

2.  Our Valentine's day box arrived from my mom, love the special surprises she sends us at the holidays, thanks mom!

3.  In lieu of going out Saturday night when it's super busy everywhere Martin and I are just going to bring in some carry out and enjoy a nice evening together at home which I am really looking forward to.

4.  But we are going to go out Sunday, to the Melting Pot, which I'm really looking forward to.  Hello cheese, in case you missed it, me and cheese, we have a thing lately.

5.  Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!  I think you are all sweet for taking a moment to stop by here today, it means the world to me, thank you!

Bumpdate | Week 13

Week|  13

Total Weight Gain| I think I'm holding steady at about 5 lbs gained, give or take since I'm not exactly sure what I started at.

Gender| ???  Anxious to find out, but trying not to be too anxious since our anatomy scan is still a bit away.

Symptoms|  This week changed the game for me a little bit.  I got sick, like not just nauseous, but sick, for the first time ever on Friday, of course the day after so many people asked how I was feeling and I was telling them how great I was feeling.  I didn't feel great Saturday either, and then it was like it never happened and I felt great again.  If that's all of that that I get I'll take it!  I've heard your bloating goes down a lot after the first trimester, which I think I'm experiencing, but I still am pretty exhausted more often then not.  Especially once I hit the later part of the week, kinda like now.

Cravings|  Cheese, mostly quesadillas and grilled cheese sandwiches.  I probably need to lay off the cheese a little bit for the sake of my vanity and not wanting to gain 100 pounds, but it's soo good!  I justify it with the fact that I'm making sure I get enough calcium, right?!

Sleep|  Still pretty decent, I don't know if I've just been so tired lately or what but I've found myself sleeping through the entire night often lately without even getting up for a bathroom break.  Not every night, but several times in the last week.  One thing I do notice is how unbelievably thirsty I am when I wake up, I have to start to remember to keep water on my bed side table.

Clothes|  I have purchased one pair of maternity work pants, and I am gravitating towards them all the time, really because they are super comfortable.  Way more comfortable then just leaving a button undone on my regular pants.  I ordered a few things from Old Navy, mostly just because I had some super cash to redeem.  There are a few other pairs of pants I'm eying online, which is really what I need now, though I feel like I'm sick of all of my clothes and want new everything, that's not going to happen all at once!

Workouts|  I'm still making the effort, but I'm not getting in as many sessions as I hope for during the week.  I'm sure it's the combination of that, and the pregnancy, and the cheese eating where I just feel more puffy all over, though Martin claims that I don't, I think he's just being a good husband.  I also bought the Tracy Anderson Pregnancy Project DVDs, there is one DVD for each month of pregnancy.  I've only done it two times so far, but it's pretty good.  It concentrates more on toning and it definitely leaves me feeling sore in the areas we've worked the next day, especially in my butt, which is good because that is one area I feel is growing the fastest!

Nursery|  I'm really getting excited to start working on this, but first we have to clear out the room that will be the nursery.  Right now it pretty much houses all of our overflow junk, which is way too much stuff.  So project number one is purge!

Movement|  I hear things start to happen around week 17 to 20, but I'm looking forward to it!

Best Moment this Week|  I really started telling all the students at work.  My co workers already knew, but as I see the students it's a gradual process for everyone to find out and it's fun and exciting to let people know and to let your secret out!

In other new things this week, you may notice my new hair cut!  I got a ton chopped off, and really I'm still on the fence about it!  It's way shorter then I anticipated, I was thinking it was going to be brushing my shoulders and I think we're missing that mark by a few inches.  And don't forget my hair is naturally curly, I haven't even dried it curly yet because I'm afraid it will become chin length!  I'm sure it will grow on me, probably more so once it's grown a few inches!  That's the good news, hair will grow!

DIY Matte Gel Nails

Something I continue to do religiously are my nails.  It's funny because I never used to have them done, but I got on the band wagon a few years ago and now like clock work, every two weeks, I sit down with all my nail supplies and some shows I have to catch up on and do my nails.

Last year I shared how I do my own gel no chip manicures at home.  My routine hasn't really changed, the light I've had for probably 2 years now is still going strong, and I love the wear I get out of the Red Carpet Manicure polishes.  Ulta carries a great color selection and often they have B1G1 50% off promos, and you can always use your $3.50 off $10 coupon, which makes stocking up on way too many colors way too easy!

Lately I've been digging the matte nail finish I've been seeing on other peoples salon manicures, and I have started to see some matte top coats hit the shelf for regular nail polish.  I can do regular nail polish on my toes, but I have never been able to get it to last on my hands.  I can never get past the drying stage!  Needless to say I was excited when I saw that Red Carpet Manicure came out with their own matte top coat, Mattify. *Right now the Mattify is listed as Out of Stock on their website, but I was able to find it at my local Ulta.

All you have to do is follow your usual steps for your gel manicure, finishing with this top coat instead.  It's so easy to do, don't be intimidated if you've never tried your own gel manicure before and want to try.  I'm horrible at painting my nails with regular polish and find it to be so much easier with the gel polish, I think it's the slightly thicker consistency.  Plus it gets better with practice.

I love the results, and I love that it essentially doubles the amount of looks I can create with all the colors in my collection because it can be layered on top of any polish.

The Red Carpet color I used for the manicure was Publicity Stunt.  I took these photos after a week, they're not perfect, but I like to think that they pass!  I love that I can get two weeks of great wear out of these manicures, and a week in they still look great.

Here is a little side by side comparison of the Mattify Top Coat versus the traditional Brilliance Top Coat.

What do you think of matte nails, have you jumped on the trend?

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for Him

It's almost Valentine's Day!  Do you have your plans ready?  I've always really liked this holiday, despite the fact that in high school I used to wear black every year on Valentine's Day, not because I disliked the holiday, but just because I didn't like to do what everyone else was doing, which was wearing pink and red.  What can I say, I've always liked to do my own thing.  Like the time where a group of girls were trying to get all of the Senior girls to wear black and white on our last day of school, I wore pink, see doing my own thing.

I think part of the reason I like Valentine's Day is because I remember celebrating it as a kid, not just in school, but at home.  It was like waking up on Christmas morning, but instead of a stocking you had a Valentine's package.  There were always fun treats, and often I remember helium balloons, which are pretty awesome when you're a kid.  To this day I get a pretty awesome Valentine's package in the mail every year from my mom.

At the beginning of the month I shared my Valentine's Day Wish List, aka Gift Ideas for Her, so today I have a round up for Him.  I asked Martin to help out with this and round up a few things under $100 that he wouldn't mind getting for Valentine's day, most of which I have to admit I would never have picked out for him myself.  So if you're looking for something a little different to give your man this year then cologne, check out some of Martin's picks below.

Shave Set | Knife | LED Flashlight | Amazon Fire TV Stick
Microbrew Beer Sampler | WeatherTech Floor Liners

What are you giving your guy for Valentine's Day this year?

High Five For Friday

I know it's been a common theme lately, but once again I am so glad the weekend is almost here!  It was awesome to get to share our big news with everyone this week, it makes everything feel that much more real, not that my growing midsection didn't make it feel real already, but now it's not just on the down low.

Here are a few snapshots from this past week.

1.  On Sunday Chicagoland was hit with a crazy blizzard where we ended up with about 19 inches of snow, but I was determined to get my errands done!  I had wasted the last two Sunday essentially napping on the couch and I felt so behind, so Martin and I hit the road.  The only probably we had is that all the stores starting closing early, even Ikea was closing!  We got about half of our errands done before we called it quits and headed home.

2.  On Monday I had my 12 week appointment and it's always such a relief to me to get a good healthy report from the doctor.  We got to hear the baby's heartbeat and see it crossing it's legs and sucking it's thumb during the ultrasound.

3.  I made my first maternity clothes purchase this week.  I picked up a pair of pants from A Pea In The Pod and ordered a few tank from Old Navy.  Any suggestions for great maternity clothes?  Please tell!  Because from what I'm finding I'm not loving much.  Why do all maternity clothes have horizontal stripes?  Do we really need to look wider?

4.  I love these girls,  I love watching them on Nashville, and I think they have the most amazingly beautiful voices.

5.  I'm getting my hair cut today!  I'm taking my inspiration photos from last week and I'm so excited.  It's been years since I've really done something different and I'm ready for something new.

I can't believe we're seriously already done with one week in February.  Enjoy whatever is on your plate this weekend, see you next week!

Bumpdate | Week 12

I knew that once I became pregnant I wanted to document it in some way, to have something to look back on and remember the small things.  So I am committing to a weekly bumpdate.  My goal is to make Thursdays the day, we'll see how that goes, but I tend to do better with goals/deadlines, so hopefully this will work for me!  As you know I hate getting in front of the camera, but here we go!

Week|  12

Total Weight Gain|  I think I'm up about 5 pounds.  Honestly I was terrified to weigh myself for the longest time, so I waited until I had my first appointment.  Because of that I don't know exactly where I started.  I am barely showing at all, but I definitely can feel it!  I'm thicker around the middle, and I think the hips are feeling it too.

Gender| ???  We will have to wait until closer to 20 weeks to find out, but we will most certainly find out.

Symptoms|  I think I've been super lucky in this department.  My acupuncturist said that most people who are using acupuncture don't suffer from morning sickness, whether that's accurate or not I've been lucky to not have anything more then a kind of icky or nauseous feeling here and there.  I have been pretty tired by the end of the day, and napping on the weekends, though I'm feeling less tired this week then I have in several.  But mostly I'm just hungry ALL THE TIME!  Which definitely makes me terrified that that total weight gain is going to shoot right up!

Cravings|  Mostly comfort foods, but really it feels like everything I can't/shouldn't be eating!  Like sugar and carbs, all I want cereal and toast.  Really I don't think I could get enough toast, but I have to watch my carbs and sugar because of my PCOS I'm at higher risk for developing gestational diabetes, which I definitely don't want to do.

Sleep|  Pretty decent.  I can still sleep comfortably in all the positions that I'm used to, now I can just expect a bathroom break between 4 - 6 am, which sometimes I have quite a hard time falling back asleep afterwards, and it's definitely not from a lack of being tired.

Clothes|  I'm still just wearing all my regular clothes, but I find myself gravitating towards lose flowing tops, and my work pants are starting to get pretty uncomfortable, I've started to use a belly band with them which is better.  I've begun to look for some maternity clothes, mostly pants, and well I've always hated shopping for pants, and this isn't really an exception, we will see what I find.  Any recommendation are greatly appreciated!

Workouts|  I'm trying.  I'm lucky if I average 2 - 3 days a week right now, mainly because I've been so tired.  I try to get some time logged on the elliptical and a few light weights.  I want to try to stay as healthy as I can throughout this pregnancy, so I'm hoping as I move into the second trimester and gain back some energy I can get more consistent with my workouts.

Nursery|  I won't get started on this for some time, but in the mean time I'm hitting Pinterest for some great inspiration.  But I am super excited to put this room together!

Movement|  I don't anticipate I'll be feeling anything for many weeks to come, but at our 12 week appointment we got to see our little one sucking their thumb and rolling around.

Best Moment this Week|  Besides our ultrasound, because it's always refreshing to see a healthy baby moving around.  I came home from work SO hungry one day, but so completely exhausted at the same time and I opened the fridge to find Martin had made me a bowl of fruit and a cheese quesadilla and I literally praised him out loud, I was so grateful for that food!

There you have it, those are my stats so far!

January Favorites

Thank you everyone for you kind words yesterday!  I'm excited to finally share the news with everybody.  But for now onto some monthly favorites.

I can't believe that we are already a few days into February.  I tried to watch my spending in January due to just finishing the holidays, so I didn't try too many new products.  This month includes 2 long time favorites, with a few brand new ones in the mix.

I've never been a big fan of having to dry and style my hair, but this cold weather makes me even less of one.  If I straighten my hair I can usually get away with not washing it for a few days, and this is one of the products I love to use to maintain a fresh look, even if it's not freshly washed.  I like that it has a nice light scent, it is completely clear, and it helps add a little texture into your hair and pick the volume back up again.  It doesn't hurt that often I can spot it at TJ Maxx or Marshalls for half the full price of what you can purchase it for at Ulta.

I'm still in love with my Ultrabland to take my make up off at night, but sometimes I'm just so tired and done with the day that I need something super quick and easy, and that's where these come in handy.  I spotted a super size pack of these at Costco and threw them in my cart just to keep around for nights like those.  These are gentle on the skin, at least they haven't irritated mine as of yet, and do a good job of getting off all my makeup, including my mascara.  My only complaint is that the smell is a little too strong for me, but once I give a quick swipe with my toner and moisturizer I can no longer smell it.

The next three items I scored in a pack all together on clearance after Christmas at Target for like $10.  I grabbed it because I knew I loved the Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme and usually it costs close to $10, so it was like I got to try the other two products for free.  The foot creme smells delicious, as most things coconut do.  It's also super hydrating and moisturizing for dry winter skin, it help keep your feet soft and it's great for a foot rub, hint hint.  The Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme and the Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream have come in handy due to my excessively dry skin this winter.  Usually I get dry skin every winter, but I don't notice it so much on my hands, not the case this year.  The hand creme is super moisturizing, I keep it on my side table next to our couch and slather it on whenever we're watching tv, I like the light almond scent and it soaks in in a matter of minutes.  The cuticle cream I don't use as often, just usually when I'm doing my nails, though I should probably use it a little more often.  I actually love the lemon scent, and a little goes a long way.  Though they're not 100% natural products, I love that they are more natural then some.

Our Valentine

Martin and I are beyond excited to share with you our special Valentine . . .

This has been one chapter we've been waiting to get started for quite some time and are so grateful to soon be parents.  It wasn't an easy road getting here, but it was worth every bump in the road.  (You can read more about our journey here and here.)

I fully plan to document and share my journey these next several months, so stay tuned for more details later this week!
