The Hunt for the Perfect Lip Color

I am officially declaring 2014 the year to find my perfect lip color.  It's the important things, I know.  See I have never been one to gravitate towards any lip color what so ever, me and my chapstick have gotten a long great for years.

I remember my friends having an over flowing supply of lip sticks, glosses, stains, balms, you name it.  I just wasn't interested.  They were either sticky, or they dried out my lips, they came off in a matter of minutes, or I just felt like a clown wearing them.

But here's the thing, I like them.  I like how they look and I think that they can really pull everything together, or add a little extra punch to your look.

So I declared 2014 the year to find the one.  Hey if I find more then one lip color I love I will consider it a bonus.  I have a few simple requirements.  It looks natural for me to wear (aka I don't look like a clown), it doesn't dry out my lips, and it lasts long enough that if I put it on at home it can be seen out in public.

Now this is where I am seeking your help.  What are your favorite go to lip products and colors?  Please share because I am in need of help on this mission!

  1. MAC 'Syrup' has become my it-lip color throughout the past year. It's moisturizing and has great staying power. I wrote a whole post recently about my essential lip products (part of my Makeup Essentials series). Maybe that could provide you other suggestions!

  2. I agree with you, there's definitely "the one" out there for all of us. Mine is "Spice it Up!" by mac. I love it so much that I put it in the design of my blog's header!

  3. If you are looking for a transitional lip tint, before you dive right into a lipstick, I have really been loving Alima's lip products. It is in between a lipstick and chapstick, and gives you a good amount of color. It also feels great and doesn't dry out your lips or leave a weird residue. I found that this has helped me branch out into more adventurous lip products. Good luck!

  4. I will definitely be checking out that post, thanks Karly!

  5. That's awesome! Looks like I'm going to be hitting up the mac counter!

  6. Thanks so much for the recommendation, I'm going to have to check it out - I haven't heard of that one before.
