Everyday Elegance: Makeup Essentials

I feel like over the last year I have really fallen into a routine of my everyday makeup essentials.  I thought I would share with you my current favorites.  This is definitely my everyday work routine.  It probably only takes me about 5 minutes to do, but it is definitely more then you would ever see me using on the weekend.  I was just reminiscing with a friend the other day on how my daily makeup routine for work used to be mascara and some blush.  It has definitely evolved and grown over the years, but I still try to keep a fairly natural but put together look.

  1. Urban Decay NAKED Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup   I have tried a few foundations in the past year.  I like this because it is very light weight, and once I put it on I forget that I am wearing a foundation.  Though I still feel like it provide enough coverage to help even out my skin.
  2. Benefit Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer  I love this primer, though I have to admit I haven't really tried any other primers.  I got sold on it when I was buying my foundation, I had read some reviews on it and figured I would give it a try.  I love that by the end of a 12 hour day of dancing and running around my makeup still looks like it did when I applied it that morning.  I have forgotten to use it once or twice and I can definitely tell the difference.
  3. BareMinerals Correcting Concealer My current under eye concealer.  I am in the habit of trying a new one every time I run out.  I am always convinced I can find something better.  I think it works ok.  Either my under eye circles are hopeless, or I just haven't found the right concealer yet.
  4. MAC Eyeshadow in All That Glitters, I use this all over my lid.  I love that it is warm yet neutral.
  5. MAC Eyeshadow in Retrospeck, I use this from my lid to my brow.  I have used this color for 5 years and have always loved it.  Its a light metallic shimmer that pairs well with anything.
  6. Benefit Watt's Up Highlighter I just use a quick sweep across the tops of my cheek bones for a little added shimmer.
  7. MAC Technakohl Liner in Graphblack, I definitely do not use this daily.  But if I need an extra little something I will add a bit of this to the outside corners of my eyes.
  8. BareMinerals Ready Bronzer in High Dive, I do a quick sweeping across my forehead, nose and chin as well as in the hallows of my cheeks.  I feel like it gives a little added contour to my face.
  9. NARS Blush in Orgasm, my favorite go to blush.  It is so hard for me to try others because I like this one so much.  I have used it for maybe 8 years I think.  It just warms up your face and adds a little natural looking color.
  10. Benefit They're Real Mascara This is my current mascara.  I asked the lady at Ulta what she recommended the other week and this was the winner.  I don't mind it, I think it wears well.  I am not a big fan of the applicator.  As well I have always had trouble with getting mascara under my eyes by the end of the day, and that tends to happen with this formula as well.
  11. Burt's Bees Tinited Lip Balm in Hibiscus, my alternative to lipstick.  I actually want desperately to be a lipstick person.  I just have not found 'the one'.  That is one of my missions this year.  I like that this gives me a tint of color that is very natural and also nourishing at the same time.

I have tried all different brands from drugstore on up.  I have just found that I prefer the quality and longevity of those that have made it into my everyday essentials.  I feel like I may spend more up front, but in turn I feel like most of the products last me forever.  I find that my NARS blush lasts me longer then you are probably supposed to keep makeup for.  And my MAC Eye shadows I wear on a daily basis and I feel like I am only replacing them every 8 months or so.  The Benefit primer was probably the fastest thing I have to replace, I want to say it lasted me about 4 months or so, but I loved it so much I didn't mind.  What makes it into your everyday makeup essentials?
