It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas

. . . everywhere you go!  I love putting up my Christmas tree!  Now usually I'm all for a real tree, in fact I am all for a real tree.  The smell, it's just amazing.  But for the last several years I have gone with an artificial tree, mainly because it just works best with our space and time.

I always need something tall and skinny for the space that we have in this home.  There isn't a great place for a big tree, a definite must in any future home!  I also am terrible at remembering to water the real trees, not so good for those real trees.

Ever since I've had my own tree, which started for me my first year out of college, I've always gone the matching route for my tree decor.  I think it has something to do with the trees we had growing up.  We always had two trees, and the one on the main floor was the pretty coordinated tree.  It had white lights and matching ornaments, it was so pretty.  Then on another floor we had the kids tree.  It had colorful lights, and all of the ornaments myself and my siblings had collected or made over the years.

Here you can check out our tree in context.  You can see the need for a skinny tree, otherwise it takes all flow out of the room.  I stuck with the same colors this year as I did with my winter mantel, white, gold, silver & a little rustic mixed in there with the burlap garland.

I will let the pictures do the talking.

Hope you enjoyed my tree!  Next week I plan to share some of the other decor I use to bring the holidays into my home.  Until then, what is your method with your tree?  Do you stick with a color theme?  Do you have coordinated ornaments?  White lights or colored lights?  Share what makes your tree sparkle!

  1. Your tree and home is absolutely stunning! I'm obsessed with your garland going up the stairs. I'm glad I'm not the only kid that grew up with a "fancy" tree and a "fun" tree with all the ornaments we collected as kids. Ryan and I are keeping that tradition alive in our home!

  3. I love your decor--all the gold makes it feel extra festive for some reason. I especially love your tree topper! I've seen some other decor that looks kinda tacky and mish-mashed but yours looks beautiful! :)

  6. That's awesome that you are keeping the tradition going! I hope to someday, when we have enough room for 2 trees! Not in this house!

  9. Thanks, I'm so into my skinny tree. I picked it up last minute a few years ago when I wasn't planning on putting up a tree and ended up hosting Christmas last minute, it's worked perfectly every year since!

  11. Both your tree and garland are beautiful! Love the color scheme, it's so elegant! We've always had artificial trees thanks to allergies but one day I want to get the full experience of having a real one :)
