My Friday Five

My how I have loved this week!  I took the week off of work, allowing Martin and I to have an extra long holiday weekend in the northern woods of Wisconsin, and also just to allow me to catch up on life.  I know I hear people say, "I don't know what I'd do all day if I didn't work, I would get bored", me on the other hand, that thought has never crossed my mind.  I've probably gotten 5% done off my "To do" wishlist and I've been going at it full force for 3 days straight, I would have stuff to do all the time!

Here is a little look back at my staycation.

1|  One thing I really enjoy about time off is I make a point to read, which I typically like to do, but find I never make time for in "real" life.  I definitely don't read to challenge the brain, I love escaping into mindless fun girly books.  A series I've been reading for what seems like forever now is the Stefanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, a little mystery a little romance and definite entertainment.  I got to catch up on the latest installment, Top Secret Twenty One.

2| Because I've been home I've made it a point to do more cooking, which I enjoy doing.  I've tried a couple of new things, all with success.  Philly Cheese Steak Stuffed Peppers (check out the recipe here), mashed cauliflower, Roasted Garlic Chicken with 40 cloves of fresh garlic, which was actually pretty awesome (I know it doesn't look it)!

3|  Since Martin got his juicer for his birthday I have tried many different concoctions, it's good to know I am getting more nutrients and fruits and vegetables than I normally would, but it doesn't always taste so pretty.  This week he did some straight up watermelon juice, and that my friend is quite delicious, and apparently there are a ton of benefits to watermelon juice, bonus!

4| Since I am home I actually get to see my husband every evening.  Seems normal, but not for us.  Usually we are on two completely different schedules, I am sleeping when he gets up to go to work and he is sleeping by the time I get home from work.  It's nice feeling "normal".

5| Cleaning house!  I live to get rid of the extra junk and clutter I don't need.  This week I got to go through cabinets and drawers and yesterday I took an entire car full to Goodwill, and I haven't even tackled the whole house yet!

I have been so glad for this week off to recharge and the best part is that it is not done yet!  I still plan to tackle more projects with the bathroom, spend some time in the yard, and of course spend some time relaxing!  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  6. Stopping by from #H54F. What did you think about the latest SP installment? I used to read them as soon as they came out, but the last few just didn't have the same excitement for me:( I'm totally Team Ranger though.

  7. Thanks for stopping by. I agree with you, they have definitely changed, I think they used to have a little more of the romance in them! I definitely go back and forth between Morelli and Ranger.
