Everyday Elegance: Chambray

Hey everybody, welcome back from the Holiday weekend.  Or in my case, extra long and much needed holiday weekend!  Martin and I headed way up north to Hayward, WI to spend some time with my family at their lake house.  We had good weather and got to spend a ton of time outdoors enjoying it.  I hope wherever you found yourself this holiday weekend you were doing the same!

I put this outfit together in packing for the weekend, of course it never even came out of my bag, but I tried it on when I was packing and definitely plan on using it soon!  It took my awhile to jump on the chambray trend, my husband not so much - he hates it.  I think it's funny.  No matter how much I point it out to him whether for sale in stores, or on people out and about he thinks there is no way that this could be in trend.

What I like about chambray is that it is easy to pair with just about anything, like an awesome maxi skirt!  And it doesn't hurt that they tend to be rather comfy as well.

Something I like to do with more boxy button down shirts is leave the last few buttons undone and knot the bottom.  It helps draw the shirt in and define your waist, keeping the look more feminine, which is a definite plus.

What's your favorite way to wear chambray?  Are you on board with the trend, or are you like my husband, in denial of it's existence?! :)

Shirt| Old Navy
Skirt| Max Studio, TJ Maxx (Similar)
Shoes| Jessica Simpson, TJ Maxx (Same)

  1. I LOVE this outfit - I'm definitely a fan of the chambray and have been for a long time. However, I always forget that there are other ways to wear it besides with white jeans/shorts. I definitely need to try it out with a maxi skirt.

I honestly still can't believe our families have lake houses on the same lake. Crazy!
