Seasonal Elegance: Spring Mantel

It snowed.  Again.  And might I mention it is the middle of March.  The good news is that earlier in the week I did see grass outside AND was able to go without my winter coat for one whole day.  Progress people, I'll take it where I can get it.  In the mean time my therapy for the never ending winter was bringing a little spring inside, to live on my mantel.

I shared with you my inspirations for this spring mantel of mine.  Mind you, this is my very first spring mantel. So I am sharing with you today, draft one.

Last weekend I went on the hunt for some milk glass containers.  I made my first visit to Oakton Street Antique Center and came out with all 5 pieces for under $37.  Success.  The birdcage I found at Hobby Lobby for 50% off, making it $14.  The mirror is a DIY project I just finished, tutorial coming soon!

I would love to put a little nest with a little white feather bird in it.  We'll see if I can find what I am looking for.  The problem tends to be that sometimes I have a little too specific of a vision established.

I love the details on the milk glass containers.  Some have polka dots, some have crosses, one has a grid pattern.  Not only does it add visual interest and texture, it's also just plain pretty!

Here is a view of the entire wall.  I added a little turquoise down by the TV with a little candle holder that I've had.  It's nice to walk in the room and see a burst of spring.  I have to say this is the first time decorating that I've really incorporated faux flowers into the mix.  Usually I don't like the look of them, but I have to admit that I like the punch of color it brings.  I like even more that they will be here until spring actually does arrive!
